High Dose Progesterone - Clearing out Tissue Estrogen Tactics

I am interested in taking a higher dose progest-e for several days, as suggested by Ray and others on this forum for estrogen dominance. I am considering 3 days of 50mg progest-e, followed by a week or two of about 10mg p/day. I wiould do the "3 drops of 3mg", wait 10 or so minutes, then repeat 4-5 times" method in order to avoid over-sedating myself.

I have venous insufficiency and varicose veins in one leg and would like to see if this helps.

Given estrogen is expected to increase in the blood, is there anything worth doing to help clear our the estrogen during this higher dose phase? I.e. Should I drink coffee at the same time, as coffee enhances liver function? Or should I avoid doing that, as it is likely to introduce FFA's into the blood at the same time.

Thanks!

I would advise you not to do it. I got worse on progesterone. I think there are more safer options like Calcium D-glucarate, working on metabolism etc, maybe pregnenalone

Interesting. What dose did you take? Was it for venous insufficiency/varicose veins, or for some other issue?

I had varicose veins as well, but did it for improving metabolism. The veins became worse and I had a friend also with varicose veins also with the same effect.

looking forward to following this thread, i too suffer from varicose veins on both my legs. Im a 41 year old male. I will be getting a consult with a vein specialist this friday where they will do an ultrasound.
At the moment I have been taking red vine leaf extract and calcium glucarate , but not long enough to decide if it has helped

I've been doing a high dose of progest-e (4-5 large pea-sized drops a day for the past 4 days). Definitely had negative symptoms from what I believe is the estrogen release. However I know I have a super sluggish and clogged liver so for the past month I've been doing coffee enemas and liver flushes. The idea is that a cleaner liver will be able to cope with detoxing estrogen way better.

How many mg of progesterone do you actually take? How many mg is a high dose?

sorry I have no idea. The dosing of progest-e is quite vague as it's a thick gel-like oil in a squirt bottle. That's why I just mentioned the size of the drop I use.

So I took 50'ish mg for a couple of days along with perhaps 10mg p/day prior for several days. My experience was that it did not help, and seemed to potentially exacerbate the problem.

I had one of the veins on my right inner leg stretching from ankle to knee (I think it was the large saphenous vein) become especially prominent/visible and loose, even while lying down. This was unusual. I hadn't experienced it in that state before. Horizontally, my vv's usually disappear from lack of gravity pressure.

I decided to stop the progesterone at that point. The loose LSV while lying horizontal went away within about a day. I still have that vein appearing from time to time while standing, but it is tighter rather than loose, which is the more common texture of my veins.

I don't want to say it doesn't work for varicose veins in general, rather, it didn't appear to be effective in my case, and seemed to make it marginally worse. Some people might say I had to continue for a couple more weeks. But it's easy to speculate when you're not the one potentially messing up your legs.

To be honest with you 50mg is not a high dose especially if you are dealing with estrogen dominance. My 'normal' maintenance dose that I take second half of my cycle is 40-50mg a day.

I am not an expert so you still need to research and see what works for you. Sometimes you need more to clear up excess estrogen. Typically, progesterone in lower doses (which is individual) mimics estrogen.

Also, if you have any gut problems it will make your estrogen dominance even worse.

Anyone ever tried this with an aromatase inhibitor like Exemestane to help clear everything out?

Why so pregnant women get varicose veins when pregosgeorme is at its peak?? Progesterone relaxes it also relaxes veins or distends them whixh is already an issue in varicosities i thought?

+1 for Progesterone definitely makes varicose veins worse. If anyone has had luck getting BP up high enough to clear them, please chime in.

I haven’t tried these suggestions yet, but wanted to share: Varicose Veins
