“AUSTIN (KXAN) – The U.S. Food & Drug Administration announced an investigation into FreshKampo or H-E-B brand organic strawberries for hepatitis A on Saturday.

The FDA said not to eat, serve or sell those brands of strawberries if bought between March 5 and April 25.

“Currently, the potentially affected FreshKampo and HEB products are past shelf life. People who purchased FreshKampo and HEB fresh organic strawberries between March 5, 2022, and April 25, 2022, and then froze those strawberries for later consumption should not eat them,” the FDA said.

Select Jif products recalled for potential salmonella
The strawberries were distributed nationwide, according to the FDA. Known retailers for these products are:

Aldi
H-E-B
Kroger
Safeway
Sprouts Farmers Market
Trader Joe’s
Walmart
Weis Markets
WinCo Foods
During traceback investigations, the FDA found that, before becoming ill, individuals in California, Minnesota, and Canada purchased fresh organic strawberries as FreshKamp or H-E-B. Fifteen cases of a hepatitis A infection have been reported in California while Minnesota and North Dakota have each reported one case.“

That’s true for pesticides, but even organic can have bacteria.

Dirty dozen is not about bacteria. If ppl are too dumb to wash their foods we cannot help them. But their inclusion on the Dirty Doz list has cited Genetic Modification, irradiation, pesticides, spectracides, and questionable fertilizers.

I know that, but what I am trying to say is that bacterias like C. diff and others cannot be washed away. In 2015 there were studies that came out that around 7% of recalls are organics, from bacteria that either cannot be killed by washing or can be killed by cooking, but people ate it raw. In any case my young son use to shop at Aldi’s and I would not want him or his family being harmed just because he didn’t buy something organic.

“Systemic insecticides move throughout the plant. When insects feed on the plant, the insecticide can kill them. This type of insecticide can be harmful to bees and other pollinators. When the bee is pollinating the plant, it may also receive a toxic dose of the pesticide. It is important to read the label and use this type of product only when it will not pose a threat to the pollinators.“

“Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still cause serious and sometimes life-threatening infections. Anyone who has eaten any recalled product and developed symptoms of Listeria infection should seek medical treatment and tell their doctors about the possible Listeria exposure.

Also, anyone who has eaten any of the recalled products should monitor themselves for symptoms during the coming weeks because it can take up to 70 days after exposure to Listeria for symptoms of listeriosis to develop.

Symptoms of Listeria infection can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. Specific laboratory tests are required to diagnose Listeria infections, which can mimic other illnesses.

Pregnant women, the elderly, young children, and people such as cancer patients who have weakened immune systems are particularly at risk of serious illnesses, life-threatening infections, and other complications. Although infected pregnant women may experience only mild, flu-like symptoms, their infections can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth.“
