I'm so happy that beverages containing HFCS are now taxed in the Philippines.

I can look forward to drinking Coke in its cane-sugar sweetened goodness once again. I just hope the corn lobby in the US doesn't force the Philippines to revert this action. HFCS is a product of corn anyway, and is an industry that is heavily subsidized in the US. Taking away this subsidy is something I hope will happen, as this subsidy has an oversized effect on the choice of sweetener and oils for consumption.

The Philippines produces a lot of cane sugar, and it makes no sense for it to import HFCS, except that HFCS is cheaper because of the US government subsidy.
