Hi,

I'd really appreciate if someone could help me with converting DHEAS from umol/L to micrograms/dl.

My result was 17.4 umol/L (the lab's normal reference range was 2.1-15.2). The figure I'm getting when i convert 17.4 umol/L to micrograms/dl is 0.64112 micrograms/dl, however in an excerpt it says "Eighteen men aged 18 to 32 with rapidly progressive male pattern baldness had serum dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) sulfate and testosterone measured. Dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate levels were elevated in all patients, ranging from 340 to 730 micrograms/dl." so the figure I'm getting is obviously not correct.

Can someone please help!

Hi @ro., google gave me 288.424 g/mol for the molar mass of DHEA.
Your DHEA concentration is 17.4 µmol/l corresponding to 1.74 µmol/dl.
Then, multiply the concentration with DHEA's molar mass:
1.74 µmol/dl * 288.424 g/mol = 501.86 µg/dl.
So, after converting the units, your DHEA level is 501.86 µg/dl which is very near the middle of the range mentioned in your excerpt.

EDIT: Your post was about DHEA sulfate.
Molar mass of DHEAS = 368.4876 g/mol.
So 17.4 µmol/l converts to 641.17 µg/dl.
Sorry for the confusion.
