Hello all!
I'm from Sweden, and i've been reading Ray Peat's work, and also been visiting this forum for 3 years, on and off. Experimented alot with food and stuff, really benefited from adding liver and oysters in my diet.
However, my problem now is ADD and major anxiety, haven't been able to reduce symptoms of those really, and i definately do not want the pharmaceutical drugs that they offer around here for ADD. Will keep searching for solutions around here, and elsewhere. Is there someone else who has experience with these issues? :)
I'm really grateful for this forum by the way, it helped me alot over the years :)

Hi and welcome!

I also have ADD and anxiety. I think they are my biggest motivators for health research. I take amphetamine as needed for ADD. This is not ideal but it helps in the meantime until I "fix" my health.

My MD who prescribes it thinks ADD is a genetic disease and if it goes untreated can destroy lives with addiction, homelessness, underachieving, etc. But this guy got his practice shut down because he was writing out so many stimulants, and sent to stimulant rehab!

I think pregnenolone and progesterone are helpful at calming my mind down. Sufficient sugar, protein and fat are needed for dopamine to work correctly. Tyrosine is supposed to help but it doesn't do it for me. Red light should help you in general. Meditation too.

This isn't Peat, but chemist Andy Cutler believes that ADD is caused by mercury toxicity. Do you have amalgam fillings or any other exposure to mercury? He says once it's in your brain it will not leave unless chelated and thus he has a cheap protocol to fix that. I'm doing this in conjunction with Peating to cover all bases. Cutler likes DMAE for ADD but it's a cholinergic substance and I saw no results from it. Some stories online say it helps a lot.

Have you tried nootropics like Piracetam? That was particularly helpful for my concentration and word-finding in conversation.

Thank you so much for your response!
I use red light daily, i like it. The actual process of meditation is very calming to me, however the more i meditate, the more i want to stay in that state, and make me even more stressed when i return to normal activities. Pretty f*cked up haha.
I have tried pregnenelone a few times, also high quality brands. It increased my anxiety alot though, so i backed off that. Haven't tried Progesterone yet, what dose would you think be fine for males? I will look into Piracetam, thank you.
No i only have one filling and it is not an amalgam one, luckily! No other source of exposure either that i know of.
Used to work outside until this autumn, so got 8-10+ hours of daylight everyday depending on season. And now i get maybe 1 hour. This could be a factor also i guess, since anxiety increased lately. Thanks again :)

For ADD and anxiety your primary goal is to better your dopamine system and to reduce system serotonin. Some ways to do this is to supplement with generous quantities of vitamin d (you should always supplement d with k and a as to avoid toxicity), drink caffeine (preferably coffee), increase androgens (or better yet 5-ar), take lysine, eat lots of beef gelatin, try Nofap, and avoid binging of any kind (especially electronic in origin). There are many other ways of doing this but the goal is to increase dopamine "receptor" density in the brain, raise natural dopamine synthesis (but don't raise dopamine tremendous amounts via many rewarding activities...this is why it is beneficial to avoid binging), and decrease serotonin concentrations in the body and brain.

I know what you mean about not wanting to leave the meditation state! It ruins "the flow".

Sunlight affects my health drastically. When I spend a few weeks at the shore, many of my health problems go away and my sleep is perfect. But it doesn't effect my ADD. Maybe if I lived there permanently it would.

I take 10-20 mg progesterone per day. The dosage is very individual so you would have to experiment. Ray says it opposes testosterone, but if you're deficient in progesterone I think there are no side effects. If your body needs it, you will tolerate it. Ray knew an alcoholic man who took 1000 mg for several weeks to cure his addiction.

I agree with Constance about Nofap. I think porn and social media messes up my attention span.

Haidut posted a study about active B6, P5P treating ADHD.
