Healthy Warming vs. Unhealthy Warming

Tonight I made some masa harina cakes fried in coconut oil. Ate them with watermelon and some milk with gelatin. But my calories were kind of low for today and the cakes were so good so I made myself.....8 more. My issue is that about 10 minutes afterwards I got intensely hot....it didn't feel normal. I've heard about the potential mycotoxins in masa harina. But masa is the only starch I can tolerate (as far as I know) and I'm trying to bring in a little bit of starch into my diet every week especially as my physical activity is increasing. Lately I've been wondering how we can determine if something is promoting metabolism by warming or if it is promoting a stress response. Any ideas?

also - i've been having temps in the high 98s/low 99s at times. pulse is 75-80.

I often feel unusually hot if i eat a good amount of coconut oil ,
especially in small meal. The effect is not that pronounced when
coconut oil is small part of the meal. Gelatin has also warming effect.
But starch has the ability to increase blood sugar intensely , which results in
high insulin secretion and then followed by high stress hormone release.
Cortisol and adrenaline can make you feel warm. Depending on the composition of
cakes, it could be either healthy warming from coconut oil and gelatin
or unhealthy warming from starch. My guess is it is healthy warming.
RP also mentioned that some hypothyroid people have normal oral temperature
but cold extremities. My experience is that the warm feeling of starch
crashes quickly.

Mittir - yes, I guess you're right that I had very many naturally warming foods all in one meal so it would be hard to pinpoint. I know it wasn't adrenaline....and the intense heat went away after about ten minutes, like you say about starches.
