Having acne problems after starting a peaty diet

Hello, it's my first thread here.
Well, i switched from a ketogenic-low carb diet to a peaty diet about a month ago.
To not make this thread too long, I won't talk about the reasons why I started a ketogenic diet (as unusual as it may seems, it was not to lose weight).
With 4 months on this keto diet, i noticed various benefits, i guess this was because i followed the stantard diet before, with vegetable oils and everything.
But, when i discovered Ray Peat and started reading about him, i convinced myself that carbs are not the devil. And also, i decided to stop the keto diet because i was feeling that i was with very low energy.
Today i basically eat:
-Coffe with Milk (skim) and Sugar in the morning.
-White Rice
-Potatoes well cooked and peeled
-Red meat
-Eggs
-Coke, when i want (here in Brazil the coke is made with cane sugar)
-Orange Juice
-Raw carrot salad everyday
-Condensed milk, when i crave
-Refined sugar (i add it to coffee, juices, and I get it from condensed milk, coke and redbull)
-Cheese
-Ice cream ocasionally (i only buy Haagen Daz)
-Fruits like bananas and apples
-White Bread (once a week)
-Liver (once a week)
-Red Bull (once a week)
I use butter, coconut oil and lard to cook.
I noticed benefits on this Peaty Diet too: I got incredibly more energy, more mood, more calm (and less stress), etc.
But one thing is bothering me: my acne is back. When i changed my diet to keto, my acne was gone, and i was happy with it. But now, i'm having a lot of acne in the chin area mainly, but in other areas too.
I'm thinking it's because of the refined sugar, but I could be wrong. I don't know what it really could be.
Can someone help me?

I have tried low carb in the past for a very short time only, but have had the same experience. My acne cleared up completely. It may be due to a lack of endotoxin and allergenic food.

What you could try is to cut out the starch for a while and get your carbs from juice (without pulp), honey and very ripe fruit only. So basically what you ate on the keto diet plus easily digestible carbs. See if that makes a difference. Did you eat dairy on the keto diet or did you reintroduce it afterwards? That could be a possible factor, too. You wouldn't be the first person whose acne got worse by milk/dairy. I personally found that goat/sheep milk was better than cows milk when it came to acne.

Yes, i ate dairy and milk on the keto diet but i started to drink more milk recently. On the keto diet, i would only drink milk when i could got it raw. Now i'm having frequently skim milk.
What's the relation beetwen starch and acne? if you could explain me please.

It could be endotoxin, which increases things like serotonin, estrogen, etc so continuing to work on gut health is important but also when you increase your metabolism your need for certain nutrients, like Vitamin A goes up. This is a good article relating to acne that I found helpful, skin breakouts broken down with Georgi Dinkov | The Nutrition Coach
So it would be good for me to supplement vitamin A? What foods should be the basis of my diet to improve gut health and what should i avoid?
I will read the article, thanks.

How much Vitamin A are you getting now and how much were you getting on Keto?
Weekly liver consumption is not recommended, unless your thyroid is high.

It's just speculation, but if you don't digest starch well it could lead to endotoxin production which in turn could cause inflammatory processes (in this case: acne).

What I would do in your situation is to go back to what you ate on the keto diet plus fruit juice, ripe fruit and honey. Eat like that for a couple of weeks and see if the acne clears up again. If it does, I would introduce incrementally other foods one by one and see if the acne comes back. If it does come back, you know what food is problematic (at least right now).

You do have be cautious about supplementing Vitamin A if in a low metabolic state, some advice not to supplement and concentrate on food but I think Ray Peat thinks up to 10000 iu is safe but it is carried on the same protein as thyroid so it's important to monitor temp and pulse if supplementing and maybe start at smaller dose say 5000 iu and as metabolism improves the need for Vitamin A also increases. The article goes into detail about improving gut health and you are already doing the carrot salad which is good. With diet, you say you are feeling better in terms of energy which is great and it sounds like you are enjoying what you are having, which is important, it is an individual thing to find what foods, etc work for you personally, I think if there are gut issues it's important to get more carbs from fruits (lower starch in particular unless they are cooked)/fruit juice rather than starch, as the starch could produce more endotoxin, it's also important to get plenty of calcium in the diet. I would say make small changes and monitor things like temp/pulse, skin, and energy. Hope that helps. Here's another article on Vitamin A. When I switched to a peaty style diet that happened to me too, I started to have lots of acne, cystic acne and very oily skin, which is something I had left behind many years ago.
I was very surprised, I didn't know what was causing it till one day I decided to start taking casein protein powder. After much research I bought the very best organic micellar casein I could find, and after taking it once a day for three days only, my already bad acne suddenly became so so much worse I couldn't believe it.
I was quite depressed. I made a connection with the casein powder and stopped taking it immediately, and after a couple of days things improved quite a bit. I then realized milk had casein, and milk had been the first and most significant change in my diet I made when becoming peaty (I almost never drank milk before, and very little dairy). And I was drinking about 1 litre daily of good quality grass fed organic skimmed milk, sometimes even raw.

I decided to stop all milk and my acne improved quite a bit more. Then I went even further and decided to stop all dairy and take a good oyster shell powder calcium supplement instead, and shortly after my acne began to disappear.

So in my case dairy causes acne, milk more so than yoghurt or cheese, and casein powder seems to be the worst offender. I don't know why that is and I wish it wasn't he case since I love milk, and all dairy, especially good aged cheeses, and miss them a lot.

is it cuz milk puts you in a puberty like state it causes acne? or is it cuz it wasnt organic and grass fed milk?
what about whey protein is it not an issue for acne?

Hans told me that dairy consumption will increase sebaceous gland activity. About a year and a half ago and I switched from a keto diet I also started to have dairy again, mostly goat milk and yogurt, and the acne came on like I was 15. I was about 42 at the time.

After a few months I gave up and quit eating all dairy and most of my acne went away.

Shortly after that I started dealing with rosacea and I've been struggling with that for over a year until about a month ago and I discovered topical Ivermectin in the form of horse paste lol. I've posted in a few other threads on here regarding rosacea

Well I am quite aware that dairy is a very popular food around here, but I haven't been able to eat dairy for about 25 years. When I was a kid and a teenager, I was consuming a lot of dairy and I was getting sinus infections all the time. When I quit eating dairy around age 20, I quit getting sick.

I have never broken a bone, I've only had one cavity in my life, I have carried four healthy children to term (2 of which have naturally straight, perfect teeth) and I have always been a healthy body weight. (5'10", 130 lbs) I get lots of sun, walk a lot, and I eat extremely healthy, I don't drink alcohol. I really don't think that I'm missing out on anything dairy has to offer! ?

interesting, do you not like eating things like white sugar or white rice? your food sources seem all natural, no added sugars or empty carbs

That's right, I don't like to eat foods with empty energy. I'd rather have fruit. I'll wrap meat up in nori sheets if people around me are having wraps or sandwiches....
