I was listening to Graham Hancock on Rogan today, and noticed a couple of things.
First, he said what Haidut wrote about - New science blooms after “stars” die – To Extract Knowledge from Matter
When talking about archaeologists refusing to accept a new idea, Hancock says something like
“It’s human nature. If you’re invested in a system of ideas that your own personality is connected to it, you can’t accept it...almost your generation has to die off before a new generation comes that is prepared to [change]”
He talks about the refusal to see new ideas, and group-think, and scientists attempting to keep their jobs.
Then he also asks what other fields this blindness applies to, and says
“How tumours are to be handled and dealt with. We have a dogma right now that it’s chemotherapy and radiotherapy and that every other system is regarded as pseudoscience. Maybe that’s a mistake? .. Maybe alternative therapies are better than blasting people with highly radioactive material.”
Goes from around the 1:39 mark to 1:42 here
