Good summary, thanks for posting.

I've never seen carnitine used as a treatment for slow gut motility, maybe another reason why carnivores get some relief from digestive disorder e.g SIBO?

"Of those compounds listed above the one most noted for it's effects on gut motility is carnitine. Researchers in Japan studied carnitine levels in 27 patients with severe motor and intellectual disabilities. They found that the severity of their constipation correlated significantly with the levels of carnitine found in their blood samples. They supplemented carnitine in those who were deficient and saw a significant reduction in their constipation. (Murata, et al 2014) This has also been the experience of many parents using carnitine to help their child with slow gut motility."

I also like this quote:

Gastrointestinal dysbiosis cannot be addressed if gut motility is not optimized. Treating dysbiosis with antimicrobials (herbal or pharmaceutical), probiotics and diet without addressing gut motility will only result in continued ill-health, frustration and money lost on supplements and treatment that don't result in long term effects.

So true. Keeping things moving is one of the most important things. Absolutely essential.
