Very interesting. Lends credence to the idea that so many diseases begin in the gut. There are now a few studies that show Parkinson's disease is tied to changes in the and many label it as an autoimmune disease.

I also recall reading last year about how people with a certain type of "good" bacteria were less likely to have hair loss. The explanation as to why people with this bacteria did not get hair loss was that it reduced the inflammatory response and stopped the bodies own cells from attacking the hair follicle. I think it is more likely that this bacteria simply opposes other bacteria possibly it has a slight antibiotic effect, therefore preventing hair loss promoting bacteria from flourishing. It could be the downstream effect of having less endotoxin, serotonin producing bacteria due to the presence of a friendlier bacteria that creates the lower occurrence of hair loss.
