Glycerin Makes Estrogen 15X Worse

I have been looking for evidence to use against glycerin as I believe glycerin to be a very negative influence in supplements. This study may be exactly what I was looking for, though I realize intravaginal is not how most of us use supplements (wink).

Glycerin is also a waste product from other products and so it needs to be unloaded on unsuspecting health conscious customers. Glycerin may also be derived from soy (at least one version of it). So negative effects from glycerin may be from excipients and not glycerin itself, but in reality they are one and the same to us consumers.

Not definitive; just another thing to keep in your back pocket.

Haven't fisked the study,
but if that is true...wow.

Peat has said about glycerin something like
that studies show it to be okay,
but his personal experience has not been that sanguine.
He experienced some negative effects...can't remember exactly...he mentioned it on a radio interview.

Yeah, but if 15 times worse
is really true..
I take quite a bit of glycerin in capsules and as an additive.

(guess this begs the quesion: 15 times worse than what...?

I think glycerin is quite normal...its what is used to make triglycerides. And it can be oxidized for small amounts of energy. I think Such is right, it probably carries things across membranes easy so using as like a topical or whatever might be dangerous (or beneficial) depending on what the substance is. Every time you eat fat you are consuming glycerin

Just sowing the seeds of doubt my friend.

The real evidence is that supplements with glycerin make me feel poorly compared to those without.

Jesting aside, sm,
none other than Ray Peat concurs with your evidenciary findings.

I know!
Maybe for some of us supplementers that amounts to something worth considering...

I think it's just in the capsule.

Yeah.
But I've thought it is sometimes used as a filler too.
Like...say, that Grace brand vitamin E...?

In any case
let's say I take 7 capsules per day every day.
Maybe not nuthin'...?

Funny thing is,
those vegetarian glycerin capsules empty
cost like 4 times more than gelatin capsules.

I became suspicious by its presence in Nutrisorb. I often felt bad the day of application, but then I would feel the beneficial vit A kick on subsequent days if I refrained from applying more.

Yeah, that might've been what I was thinking of.
Peat said he had a bad reaction to NutriSorb when he took it internally.

This thread is about supplemental glycerin.

I'm talking bout it? what I was saying was that taking it orally isn't bad and is kinda happening anytime someone eats fat, and taking it on the skin is only bad depending on what substance is with it..like pure glycerin rubbed in would just be oxidized similar to glucose, or converted into glucose once it reached the liver, but since it can maybe cross membranes it will carry other fat solubles and actually water too...it kinda has that quality between fat and water soluble, so if you had pure vitamin A and glycerin it wouldn't be bad in a reasonable dose, if you had it with estrogen it would be really bad. I actually have no idea in tangible practice and experience, I'm just going based on its properties. The reason glycerin is used with triglycerides is cause it has that quality, its mostly fat soluble which is why it holds the 3 fatty acids, but is very slightly water soluble on the other end...probably so the triglycerides still have some access to enzymes and things
