I know the drug Fulvestrant has been mentioned on the forum a few times. @haidut mentioned how other things, like niacinamide and caffeine, had their anti-estrogen actions compared with fulvestrant. The description is that it is a "selective estrogen receptor degrader (SERD) and was first-in-class to be approved. It works by binding to the estrogen receptor and destabilizing it, causing the cell's normal protein degradation processes to destroy it." ( Fulvestrant - Wikipedia ).
Haidut mentioned that estrogen can be synthesized independently of aromatase, and Peat also states that estrogen can get "stuck inside the cell" if there are too many estrogen receptors.
So, is it worthwhile to try Fulvestrant for controlling estrogen? How do the side-effects compare with mainstream anti-estrogens like exemestane? Does anybody actually know anything about this drug ? (it seems really difficult to obtain, expensive, and I can't really find many reviews on people who tried it)
