This article about how fructose makes us unhappy states that fructose stops our body from absorbing serotonin, and apparently it increases our ability to absorb dopamine.

So consuming fructose regularly must have similar effects to cyproheptadine and other anti serotonin drugs. This might all be anecdotal, but fructose seems like the perfect type of sugar for lowering serotonin in general, it also doesn't require insulin to get into the cells like glucose does, which means even less serotonin will be produced just from that fact alone. What do you guys think?

Thanks for posting this @Starchless. This was a very good overview of mainstream medicines view of serotonin being the happy hormone and the reasons why. It is odd they say that fructose creates a spike in cortisol when we say it opposes cortisol, my personal experience is that fructose combined with protein gives me very good results in terms of energy and cognitive function while lowering the feelings of stress stressful situations. I feel better suited to deal with problems as they arise in a logical rather than emotional and anger or frustrated way.

Yet any carbohydrate intake also liberates tryptophan to pass more easily through the BBB unopposed. Therefore leading to higher brain serotonin levels.

Fructose is basically table sugar, fruits, juices right. So basically avoiding bread rice starch and sticking to the white sugar and juices and fruits, milk?
