I think this article does a good job of reviewing a number of recent studies seriously undermining the official "health" recommendations considered for decades to be rock solid. From guidelines on "ideal" (and preferably low) BMI to the recommendations to eat tons of PUFA, the official stance on so many medical "truisms" is slowly starting to get unraveled.

That's a very refreshing article. Hopefully the flaws in the BMI guidelines will soon be exposed. Forum member tara posted about the site http://www.youreatopia.com a couple months ago and the owner of that site does an excellent job explaining the errors of the BMI scale. The WHO lowered the BMI considered overweight in 1998 and overnight millions of healthy people were suddenly ' at risk' for a multitude of health problems. That was very convenient for the 'medical' field (and insurance companies, governments, pharmaceutical industries) etc. That is about the same time we started hearing incessantly about the obesity epidemic. It's damaging to individuals and society as a whole the way the BMI scale has been mis-used (IMO).
Hungry people mindlessly follow orders. You feed them enough and right away they demand self government.
