Study
The Danes studied 1,679 healthy and young men, who signed up for the military between 2012 and 2017. Of these men, 5 percent said that they had taken supplements containing fish oil during the 3 months before their medical check up.

Results
Taking or not using fish oil supplements had no effect on testosterone levels. However, the researchers did find an effect on the production of sperm and the size of the testes. The fish oil users produced more semen and had larger testes than the men who did not use fish oil supplements.

The figures above were made after the researchers statistically brushed out as many other confounding factors as possible.

The testosterone: LH ratio was higher in the men who used fish oil. This could imply that fish oil makes the testes respond better to LH.

LH is a hormone produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. It travels through the blood to the testes, stimulating them to produce more testosterone and sperm cells.

Conclusion
"We did not obtain information about the actual content of the omega-3 fatty acids in the supplements, and the study was crosssectional, so we can only claim associations and not causation", write the researchers.

"To our knowledge, randomized clinical trials on intake of fish oil supplements have only been performed among men with infertility, and our findings need to be confirmed in well-designed randomized clinical trials among unselected men or in large prospective cohort studies."

The part on "association and not causation" says enough about the usefulness of this study.

LH isn't something we want to stimulate production of outside the pituitary's normal production. Testicular size increases? I wonder if it's from inflammation.

The study shows LH is lower with fish oil consumption. This is due to o3’s effect on stard1 expression. It makes the body more efficient at producing steroids by stimulating cholesterol > pregnenolone conversion.

So the higher ratio doesn't imply more production of LH, just utilization of it; hence, lowering it?

Everyone I know of who's on this stuff, and swears by it, are taking a host of other things and have a skewed understanding of oxidative metabolism. Joe Rogan and Dave Asprey are going to go down in history as 2 of the worst promoters of this kind of poison.

Peat's opinion on why it can seem promising in the early stages is "the antiinflammatory effect of the oxidative breakdown products." I'm 41 so I'll wait another 30 years to see how wonderful some of the generations are doing then. :)

No dude.
The TESTOSTERONE to LH ratio is HIGHER in the fish oil group. Meaning there’s a higher level of testosterone and lower level of LH in those consuming fish oil vs those not.
So it’s suspected that fish oil is improving the body’s response to LH so the body doesn’t need to produce as much LH, which is a good thing.

Meh, they control for a few things (perceived fitness level, abstinence etc.) but not enough to say they've isolated the impacts of the the fish oil. The men taking fish oil typically have a very different mindset than people who don't.

Moreover, fish oil and its omega will have an anti-inflammatory effect in the short term, Ray talks about this all the time, long term (6+months), as the fatty acids populate the tissues, I suspect those benefits would be completely undone within a year of continued supplementation.

Nothing much to get excited about either way.

If you simply time o3 consumption on days you eat in a caloric deficit no o3 will be stored but you’ll still receive all the anti-inflammatory benefits.

There really isnt much you can do with this forum when it comes to these things. If fish oil or anything else that isnt peaty shows positive results under any circumstances it's obviously due to some confounding factor or poor controls. If it shows negative results it's because fish oil is the devil.

Why though? Burning PUFAs in itself is bad and you can just take other anti-inflammatory substances.

It's a dirty fuel that produces toxic byproducts when burned. Therefore, you don't want to throw it in the furnace, you want to put clean stuff in the furnace. You throw dirty fuel out. You do quicker when you have a higher metabolism. Wanting to get rid of PUFAs by burning them is like wanting to get rid of rubbish by throwing them in the furnace. It happens more in emergency situations, like when you're face-to-face with your crush. Your body wants to increase energy production, and sometimes this leads to procreation, and at other times, particularly when something, or someone is constantly weighing on you, this leads to a broken furnace. Then your home is too cold to invite someone inside.

That’s not an explanation. Give me the mechanism of action.

It was my pleasure. The post is not available in your language.
You clearly don’t understand human biology/biochemistry. Why bother commenting on something you have no idea about?

Can anyone else explain how burning PUFA is ‘bad’?
