Hi!

Just signed up and first post on here, though I have been reading the forums for some time. I have been interested in the ideas of Ray Peat and would like to slowly transitioning into some of the guidelines and see how it feels. 26 year old male with various symptoms that affect my quality of life; constant acne problems for almost ten years (been on Accutane twice, plus various rounds of tetracyclines), weak legs, fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, dry skin, facial bloating. On the top of this I have various digestive problems with IBS symptoms like reflux, presence of mucus in stools, white coated tongue in the mornings, mostly loose stools but it can alternate. Skinny-fat - 6 feet 2,5 inches. 167,6 lbs (most fat centralised around stomach, thighs, breast).

I have been following a strict low-fodmap diet with peppermint oil, lactoferrin and fulvic acid for six weeks as I suspected I might have SIBO (I haven't been tested for it). I feel better digestion wise and bm but still got plenty of symptoms as you can see. Before this I ate pretty much low-fodmap diet (rice, potatoes, low-fodmap vegetables, salt, organic/grass fed meats, chicken, fish, coconut oil, olive oil, berries) plus bananas and sweet potatoes.

Is there anything I should take in mind regarding these tests (from this month)? Obviously mildly anemic and deficient in folate, but apart from this I wonder if there is anything that can be commented on (positive or negative)? Test 2 is taken one week after Test 1.

My plan next is to correct the deficiencies, track pulse and temperatures, get some full thyroid tests and continue to read this forum.

I'm not strong on reading test results, but wondering a couple of things.
Was Test 1 a fasting blood test? So fasting blood glucose?
What the pH of 6 in Test 1 is referring to? I don't think it can be the blood, because that's usually fairy tightly controlled between pH 7.35 and 7.45. But if it's urine pH, I'm puzzled by the range (5-6) - that whole range seems low?

If you want to tell, how much are you typically eating in a day?

Thank you very much and thanks for asking that - I forgot to mention that Test 1 was approximately two hours after breakfast (not fasting), and Test 2 was fasting. Regarding the pH, it is urine and I agree with you that the range is a bit weird. I don't really know what 6 pH says in this case.

I eat three meals a day. I put in my food consumption in Chron-O-Meter the other day and that day it was around 2800 calories. Eat the same amount of food pretty much every day. Normally don't count calories though.

Peat has said a 24 hour UpH in teh range 6.3-6.7 is probably good. A single reading of 6 probably doesn't mean all that much - it can fluctuate quite a bit according to immediately preceding conditions. An average of several readings, or a full 24 hr sample might tell more. It's not one Peat has focussed on much AFAIK (Reams/RBTI considered it important).

If you are wanting to get an idea about how overall metabolism is going, you can monitor body temps and resting heartrate - DIY, and something you can check as often as you like.
