Before peat, certain insects (cockroaches and crickets in particular) grossed me out.

Now, they don't. Before peat, I only liked "outdoor" bugs (fireflies, beetles, etc), and the pests that took up residence in the home would freak me out a little.

I was also never scared of mice or rats, so it's not simply due to their pest status.

Girls also tend to be more scared of bugs than boys.

I think it is due to reduced adrenaline and cortisol and overall better health.

Your body has nothing to fear of these things, whereas in an emergency state he possible would have to.
Funnily those insects freak me out since I'm hypo, as do other animals like dogs, which has never been in my whole life before.
