I like to give my Brita cartridges a good shake and blow from the underside when I'm out of them and wonder just how long these or most any other filters are good for.
What's taking place on the insides of these things as they get used - does the bad "stuff" - mercury/lead/microbes collect & corrode inbetween the granuals of, I guess they're some kind'a charcoal ?
