Spanish nurse tests positive for Ebola

A SPANISH NURSE in Madrid has tested positive for the Ebola Virus after coming into contact with the infected missionary Manuel García Viejo.

The auxiliary nurse has tested positive for the deadly virus after displaying symptoms including a high fever. Although the initial medical analysis tested positive, the nurse will now undergo further testing to confirm whether or not she has the virus for sure. The Health Ministry has called a crisis meeting, and is awaiting the results.

The nurse, who works at Madrid’s Carlos III hospital, treated the priest Manuel García Viejo, who was flown to the Spanish capital from Sierra Leone. García Viejo died of the virus on September 26.

More health workers hospitalised in Spain

Three more health workers in Spain have been admitted to hospital for monitoring for Ebola, including two doctors who had contact with a nurse infected with the disease.

The third new patient is a nurse who had contact with one of the two Spanish missionaries who died from Ebola after being repatriated from west Africa for treatment.

"He is showing symptoms and a test has been carried out but we have not received the result yet," said a spokesman for the Madrid hospital.

A British man suspected of having Ebola has died in Macedonia, and a second man is believe to be fighting the disease, officials have said.

When admitted to the hospital, the patient was unable to communicate, shortly after he had passed away.
