Erectile dysfunction at 29. No morning wood for years (unless eating lots of starch and fat before bed).

I am 29 years old. I come from adhering fairly strictly to the carnivore diet for almost 3 years. I would cheat from time to time. I started eating more carbs and more peaty things around 6 months ago. Morning wood is very uncommon for me and has been for many years. I have noticed the only time i get morning wood is when I eat a lot of starch and fat before bed. The best example is popcorn (one of my favorite cheats of the past) made in lots of saturated fat. Usually ghee, butter, coconut, or even kidney fat (for stearic acid content). It seems like the stearic acid combined with the popcorn starch revvs my metabolism us and satiates me like nothing else. When I eat this, if I wake up any time of the night all the way until morning, I will either have an erection or be pretty flushed.

I recently slept with a woman for the first time in 3 or 4 years and not only did I not have the hardness I know i used to achieve (even throughout all of my carnivore days), but I didn't last long at all, and the orgasm wasn't even very satisfying. I adore this person, and I wasn't really even nervous, so it wasn't that I "wasn't really into it" or something like that. Now I will be nervous. It's been getting to me. I have to do what it takes to fix this. This has mostly become an issue in the past 2 months, because I have tried masturbating and it is difficult to stay hard, even though I can still achieve orgasm, and again, it isn't even very pleasurable.

So what I find interesting is the starch and fat thing. It is the only thing that gives me morning wood. I am going to test it more thoroughly tonight and see if it helps with hardness, because I can't remember if I really filled out or just got an erection from eating like this in the past.

Also, my circulation in general is concerning me lately. I went for a heavy run the other day on the beach and by the end of the run, my toes were falling asleep. I have been getting pins and needles a lot lately.

I have a lot of other issues that may be relevant, but I am struggling to present it all in a coherent manner.

Thanks in advance for the advice!

Without an in-depth analysis of your circulatory system there are two things you might try. The pins and needles thing may be symptomatic of nerve compression but if circulatory oxygen is the issue you might test this with a one or two time use of Viagra or one of it's competitors. If this gives you a better erection this is almost always indicative of calcification of your circulatory system and needs to be addressed asap. Without knowing your diet, you may be way too low on calcium intake or too high on phosphates which is where you would start. Then add vit k2 (mk4) to your diet along with VitD and A and increase magnesium to go along with this. If the Viagra worked you should be able to reverse any calcification within months but only if you change your diet to accommodate this.

I consume a lot of dairy, but also a lot of meat which means that even though I get a lot more calcium than most, I still get a lot of phosphorus. I know that the ratio is considered important to Peat mostly because of parathyroid hormone. I probably get enough VitD because I live in costa rica and get loads of sun and have light skin in general. Also I eat a lot of liver so I am probably good on Vitamin A. I supplement with Magnesium Glycinate (probably around 400mg elemental magnesium per day from this). I just ordered Vitamin K2 (MK-4) from idealabs, so that may be something that I am missing. I will get it in about 2 weeks and begin experimenting.

I don't know if I can easily get Viagra or one of the competitors. I need to see what the pharmacies offer here in Costa Rica (I am an expat living here).

Thanks so much for the advice!

non diet but a good penis pump helps achieve better wood - used lightly. Even some specialists have recommended it. Celery helps with good loads and improving prostate orgasm. Squat exercises also help with all of the above. Many guys on Thundersplace talk about improving wood and circulation through penile enlargement exercises. I found by cutting sugar and using macadamia nuts as my main energy sauce gave me the best strength but I missed sugar too much. Good luck.

Interesting stuff. I do squat exercises. Mostly Bulgarian Split Squats.

What do you mean by cutting sugar? Like less carbohydrate in general? or less fruit sugar? or only less literal sugar? I ask because I used to be carnivore (practically no carbs) and I don't recall having any issues with erection strength (though I still didn't get morning wood).

Thanks!

You can get vital kmk4 much cheaper from now foods. Also try Protealic enzymes on an empty stomach as this will also help clear arterial plaque.

I cut carbs in general with no processed sugar or fruits. I think when I was carnivore for a couple of months erectile strength was better then as well. There was less softening after initial erection.

Why don't you start including more starch and fat into your daily diet?

I know that problem too well from the past. What helped me most was a daily low-dose aspirin (100mg) dissolved in hot water with a bit of clean baking soda. In the evening I make a glass of OJ with a scoop of collagen powder and a pinch of salt. Then I drink my aspirin solution afterwards. Sodium bicarbonate and glycine from the collagen prevents any digestive upset by the aspirin for me.

Low dose aspirin could be as potent as viagra but with much fewer side effects.
Bayraktar Z, Albayrak S. Antiplatelet (aspirin) therapy as a new option in the treatment of vasculogenic erectile dysfunction: a prospective randomized double-blind placebo-controlled study. Int Urol Nephrol. 2018 Mar;50(3):411-418. doi: 10.1007/s11255-018-1786-0. Epub 2018 Jan 17. PMID: 29344879.

What helped me besides that was lower fat diet. Fat really impairs my blood flow overall. I now eat more lean red meat with rice for example.

Daily pomegranate juice also caused so many random boners when I started using it. It is well known to improve cardiovascular health.

Ensuring good electrolytes levels is also important for maintaining good blood volume.
Lowering blood pressure could also help if it is elevated - look into calcium:phosphate ratio, vitamin D status, magnesium and potassium intake, lowering aldosterone and the other stress hormones.

Good luck!

Interesting. How much fat do you eat daily aproximately?
So, do you eat los fat cheese and milk too?
I'm going to try low fat for a month to see if my circulation improves.

I like to keep it around 50g approximately. But all fats are whole-food fats in my diet - I don‘t really use oils anymore. They seem to impair glucose metabolism for me.

I don‘t do well with dairy in general but if I could tolerate it, I‘d definitively use it.
There are lots of good low fat dairy products like skyr yoghurt that also has a lot of protein.

You are obviously running out of glycogen stores overnight.

You can't have proper erection when hypoglycemic.

Have you ever tried taurine, famotidine or thiamine?
