Just curious if anyone has figured out a good energy bar recipe. All the commercial ones have soy oils and dumb stuff like raw oats and pine nuts in them. All the recipes I see online have basically the same problems.

The point would be to have a high carb food with a little protein that stays good to eat at room temperature for over two weeks at a time, and doesn't require a container beyond a piece of plastic wrap. It should hold itself together well when kept in a pocket. It shouldn't go too hard and stale.

Rice crispy treats are a pretty good starting point, but I was thinking maybe it'd be easy to make something denser out of masa harina? Masa harina + a little butter + sugar + gelatin + baking powder + water. Bake as a sheet and cut up into squares. I have no idea if this would work OK. Curious if anyone has ideas.
