Same. Thyroid has been very helpful for lowering adrenaline and getting more restful sleep, and adding in progesterone has improved sleep even more. I'm almost back to normal sleep now, only wake up once or twice per night. So grateful for Peat's advice and the awesome members here!
what progesterone are you using? i used now foods cream and even tho i felt a calming effect, it very sporadically helped with the quality of my sleep,

I'm taking high dose thiamine in the morning and afternoon (before 3:00pm). It has improved my sleep. But I was waking up around 2:00am with hypoglycemia. I've learned that if I take a gram of aspirin plus about 150mg niacinamide I don't have that problem. If I forget to take them, I consistantly have that problem.
arent u scared of such a high dose of aspirin? i was taking 600mg for like a week and had some short term ringing in my ear, twice maybe for few secounds

I've got some pretty serious inflammation going on, have been diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis. I am taking 3 grams of aspirin a day. If I take it I can function, if I don't take it my hip joints hurt so bad it is hard to walk. It works for me. I supplement with vitamin K. I don't have any ear ringing.

Not that they have been right about everything, but in Pearson & Shaw's 1982 book Life Extension, they talked about ice cream being good for stabilizing blood sugar, due to the emulsion factor of the fats in the ice cream and how it slows the absorption of the sugar. Have you tried ice cream before bed?

I use progestogel (a lot of it), if you're in Europe you can buy from online french pharmacies. I think I might have had some progesterone deficiency as I got such powerful effects the first time I used it, even though I had been using preg/DHEA. Though I think thyroid is probably more important. And vitamin D.

My 70 year old dad suffered from rheumatoid arthritis, so bad he could barely walk or even sit very long without moaning and groaning in pain. I know he was was on medications for it, and the whole thing of him even having it took me by surprise, as he was always active, and it came on so fast. At the time (10 years ago) I was avidly adhering to, and preaching the wonders, of the Eat Right For Your Blood Type Diet, which cured my foot and joint pains and finger arthritis, within a week even! Knowing my dad was almost wheelchair bound he had no choice, but to trust me and give it a try. Pretty quickly his health turned around and he got off all medications and was back to diving and dancing again and 50 pounds lighter, all within 6 months. Since finding Ray Peat's science and studies, I have made it my main diet now, but the Blood Type Diet still holds some weight on what I am willing to do. You might check the list of toxic foods for your blood type and avoid them for awhile and see of that helps your pain.

Eat enough sugar with the eggs, no other way around it. I avoid eating protein before bed for this reason. Simple bowl of fruit or starch 1-2 hours before bed is enough to guarantee a full night's sleep.
This. I have slept awesome eating potato or pasta with butter and milk before bedtime for years. I always cook with leftovers in mind.

Hello @Rinse & rePeat ! Your atole looks interesting! I have not heard of it before! Is it the preparation the same idea as Jibs description or do you have a secret family recipe?
Ha! No secret recipe, as I am a German girl :)

Here is the recipe I use:

Mexican Atole
1/2 cup masa harina
2.5 cups water
1.25 cups whole milk
4 TB brown sugar
1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
1 tsp vanilla extract
A big pinch or two of Maldon salt

Combine everything, but the vanilla, in a saucepan, and bring to a boil, on medium high heat, whisking often. Simmer and whisk 5 to 10 minutes more until your desired consistency. Remove from heat, whisk in the vanilla and enjoy :)

Thanks @Rinse & rePeat, I will give it a shot!
Curious on one question, in a previous thread you had mentioned your age, I am wondering if your photo is a recent, (not in a facetious way either). Curious reasons only, I am wondering if you are doing anything in your regimen that might promote Klotho the anti aging molecule, as your photo is indicative of a young twenty something.

Babies drink sugar water (ie, breast milk skim) during the day. The fat is mainly dumped/consumed before main sleep. They also wake up during the night and cry for another feeding of.. sugar water.

That is, biphasic sleep. Carb up (eg, salt and honey) after the awakening to refill glycogen and prepare for dreaming. Eat the last meal 3-4 hours before bed or earlier to not ruin hormone release.

Ohhh you are so kind to say that. I took the "after" photo in the denim outfit and the face one in 2019. I seriously am in shock myself how good my skin and muscle tone looks, which has turned me into an almost fanatical Ray Peater, excited for more! People always say to me, "why do you keep looking younger and younger?" The Ray Peat protocol is too hard for them to do, with too much to give up and they wont read the science. My husband has been a smoker since he was 15, and since riding my coattails, Peating without a choice, he is getting the same comments. He has less wrinkles than he had 4 years ago, and his gray hair has almost totally reversed, with just some in his facial. He use to mock me with my Ray Peat preachings, but not anymore since he has gained so much also. Now he jokingly says, "thank you "Ray Peat" whenever I compliment him on his boyish good looks now. if you still have doubt, here is my pic from a week ago. I am going to be 58 in July. Feel free to pick my brain. The only thing I suppliment, and just only started to a couple of weeks ago, is niacinimide. I haven't exercised since I was 28 years old. Just lots of moving around, eating high end "Peaty" food, and only high end white tequila ?

That’s an amazing story @Rinse & rePeat. Good to know that you are available to bounce ideas or queries off of. Hopefully your husband isn’t a large angry jealous type, I don’t need anyone tracking me down for what could be construed as flirtatious comments (again?).
But let him know he is a lucky man.
At any rate I would like to hear more on your food preferences, as well do you have a preference on a brand of masa harina that might be more in line with Dr Peats preferred production methods?

dont aspirin and niacinamide also lower blood sugar? also if you use too many pro sugar burning/blood sugar lowering substances couldnt that raise cortisol and result in tearing down muscle/skin for more blood sugar
