Does Progesteron Expire?

I had some unopened progesterone gel that expired 4 years ago. I opened it and the smell and structure looks the same. I am wondering if hormones like progesterone expires very easily or could be still fine after all those years. Any idea?

I believe I have read to keep progesterone in the fridge because it helps preserve it, which means what you have probably is not good. See what others say, but I am sure I read it on this forum.
