Does cascara ever go off?

Bought some cascara years ago, maybe 2 or 3 and wanting to start experimenting again with it. The tub says retest date 22/02/2015 on it. Does cascara have an expiry date or will it still be safe to use?

I recently tried some of my 2-year-old supply. It kicked in very suddenly the next day. Dunno what that says about its safety, but it appears to still work.

I don't know the answer, but if it were me, and it had been stored dry so i hadn't gone moldy, I'd be brewing up a tea and trying it. If it tastes OK, probably not dangerous. And you'll know soon enough if it works. It's supposed to be well aged before use, but I don't know what special conditions might apply.
