For those asking about my steroid supplements, and why use DMSO as a carrier (questions mostly coming from the Facebook RP groups). The studies below show that transdermal application of steroids (including progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone) dissolved in DMSO achieved the same bioavailability as subcutaneous administration. Subcutaneous administration is considered to be the gold standard of steroid administration and has been shown to achieve 100% bioavailability. So, DMSO gives you the same results without the need to implant yourself with anything. Last, but not least, DMSO has been show to increase the effect of steroids in a manner similar to pregnenolone. So, DMSO is a steroid "potentiator" in addition to being an excellent carrier through the skin.

http://www.dmso.org/articles/information/herschler.htm
"...Djan and Gunberg24 studied the percutaneous absorption of 17-estradiol dissolved in DMSO in the immature female rat. These steroids were given in aqueous solutions subcutaneously or were applied topically in DMSO. Vaginal and uterine weight increases resulting from estrogen in DMSO administered topically were comparable to results obtained in animals in which the drugs were administered in pure form subcutaneously."

And some of the studies showing the bioavailability of steroids dissolved in DMSO:

I wonder if such carrier+steroid could be useful for wounds or other skin problems. A few warnings given here: http://www.researchgate.net/post/How_mu ... ch_is_safe

When dissolved in DMSO the steroids were found to have reached the bone cells within 1 hour, and also stay within tissues for weeks acting like a local reservoir. Pregnenolone has been shown to improve wound healing, so dissolved in DMSO it should be able to reach even bone lesions as the studies show.

Haidut, would you mind giving a reference to guide for dosing DMSO at home? For example to mix with some DHEA+alcohol solution, while being cautious not use too much DMSO.

I don't have a reference talking specifically about how to use DMSO, but there are many studies that used DMSO solution to deliver whatever substance the study was testing. It's usually a mix of at least 50% DMSO with something else like ethanol, acetone, glycerol, etc.

Pregnenolone can help bone lesions?
That's interesting.

Yes, it also protects from vitamin A toxicity.
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/946392

"...Pretreatment of rats with pregnenolone-16alpha-carbonitrile (PCN) completely prevented the osseous lesions produced by vitamin A overdosage, whereas pretreatment with phenobarbital or with phenytoin (diphenylhydantoin) provided only partial prophylaxis. These microsomal enzyme inducers also decreased vitamin A concentration in the liver and seemed to protect against hypervitaminosis A by enhancing the metabolism of the vitamin. Electron microscopy of the liver showed large, vitamin A-storing perisinusoidal cells. The number, size, and lipid content of these cells were decreased in rats treated simultaneously with vitamin A and PCN, but not in rats pretreated with phenobarbital or phenytoin. Vitamin A, given alone, produced moderate accumulation of smooth endoplasmic reticulum (SER) in hepatocytes, without accelerating microsomal drug-metabolizing enzyme activity; phenobarbital, phenytoin, and PCN also elicited SER accumulation, particularly when administered with vitamin A."

I have a wound- laceration from a paring knife that went through my palm (silly accident), the stitches are out, and the wound has closed up. I was putting on daily Progest-E to speed healing. There is some nerve damage and tightness as tissues are scarring.
Question- is it a good idea to use DMSO and Progest-E to help with dissolving scar tissue and improve nerve function/healing?
Thanks!

Maybe get a tank of CO2 at a welder's store
and a plastic bag.
Fill bag
and let your hand rest inside for a while several times every day.
Also, get a 300W utility incandescent bulb and put that light on your hand often.

It's a good question about the DMSO and P-E

Good point!
Since that's clearly my most pressing health issue, I'll put it on the front burner, and put alternate hands in a CO2 bag for at least 20 minutes at least 3 times a day, and report back in a month!
Just as soon as I get an over supply of tuits, that is. :)

I want to dissolve some T in DMSO. Should I use a short ester like Testosterone Propionate or a long ester like Testosterone Undecanoate ? Anyone know which ones are more soluble ?

Neither, as they are less beneficial than the pure T and also less soluble in DMSO than pure T. The least risky approach is to use a "base" steroid and not its ester.
