j., I think that you are really onto something here...

I also just read China banned some of them. What a stupid fad.

@Wilfrid OK wishing you luck with your search! If you get desperate and change your mind just send me a PM...

@j. Yes it's moronic, those energy saving bulbs are really bad for health I think (I usually feel more depressed if in a place using them) and contain mercury on top of it all :( Better buy some for stock, I will do the same before even these 500w bulbs disappear from my shop...

I found this on wikipedia, about the European Union:

In practice, some manufacturers and retailers have found a loophole in the new rules so that some incandescents are still available, marketed as "rough-service" or "shock-resistant" bulbs for industrial use only.

Switzerland

Switzerland banned the sale of all light bulbs of the Energy Efficiency Class F and G, which affects a few types of incandescent light bulbs. Most normal light bulbs are of Energy Efficiency Class E, and the Swiss regulation has exceptions for various kinds of special-purpose and decorative bulbs

Yes, I think this is why I could still find it in a technical shop...

Oh wow, so are these incandescents for shipping in EU?! That would be nice... They don't have 250W though, so need to buy a new socket - the standard ones support 250W max.

That is indeed a company in the EU that sells "heat bulbs" because as you know incandescents are the illegals.

Myself, I probably would feel OK running a 300 "heat bulb" in a 250 watt max receptacle.

I thought I'd report that I'm tolerating longer times while being exposed to 275W of incandescent lights. I think it increases my metabolism because it makes me hungrier.
