Dietary carbohydrate restriction improves metabolic syndrome independent of weight loss

If your metabolic state cannot handle the carbohydrates you throw at it you are doing some serious damage because the body will do anything to react to the carbs. This might include activation of emergency non-oxidative pathways (maybe forced by endotoxin?) that push you towards diabetes.

I don't think this study should be interpreted as saying low carb is something to strive for, but that it is a treatment option for a common metabolic dysregulation.

It's because eating more carbs than you can oxidize increases serotonin, lactic acid, cortisol, etc. But continuing to restrict carbs will only make your glucose oxidation worse in the long-run, and from seeing most of the stories on here, carb restriction is not sustainable for more than a few years.

Quite the dilemma because increasing the ability to oxidize glucose all the way to CO2 is definitely not simple... You have to massively lower prolactin and cortisol.
