Dietary Caloric Efficiency

If one eats a high-calorie meal, and doesn't have the digestive capacity to handle that amount of food, it won't be broken down well enough, which will then feed bacteria and encourage bacterial overgrowth into the small intestine. Additionally, the endotoxin created will have to be processed by the liver. There is a quote of RP around that said 2/3 of the liver's energy goes into processing endotoxin. So a lot of that high-calorie meal energy is being wasted by turning into endotoxin and then having to be processed.

The long-lived Okinawans have a saying that goes something like "eat until you are 80% full". Apparently following this principle could contribute significantly to their good health and the high number of centenarians.

I know there is a great deal of focus on this forum on getting enough calories, but if they're not being digested well, then it is not a net positive.
