Did tegretol turn my relative into a monster?

Following the bizarre and mentally ill behaviour of a relative, I did some detective work and found that the person was on t4, and tegretol

What I am most worried about was the tegretol

This person has displayed the most histrionic, violent, depressive, impatient, unempathic behaviour possible

They behave like they are possessed, they have really bad vibes.

I wonder what the mechanism would have been for this switch to occur

Maybe due to the anxiety lowering effects you are now witnessing their real and unfiltered self

Hmm, that's an interesting theory.

However it seems more like brain damage and something more like psychopathy
and narcissistic personality disorder, like something in their brain has really changed. It's really quite disturbing

Dude.

I guess your relative is taking the carbamazepine because a psychiatrist prescribed it. It is prescribed for quite serious things : bipolar disorders, schizophrenia, epilepsy, etc.

What was the medical diagnosis that led her to get carbamazepine prescribed?

Is that behaviour related to the drug or because that person had these traits to begin with? Maybe it is worth checking with the MD to change the medication?
