I'm 25 years old and still don't have a full beard and sometimes I feel I'm low on DHT...I want to take maybe 2.5 to 5 mgs of DHEA to raise DHT in my body tissue. but I want to do so without raising estrogen at all.. do you guys think this is smart for a young man my age?..I don't want to shut down natural dhea production. I'm thinking of cycling it, what would a effective safe cycle be for it?

thanks for the help!

DHEA can be harmful if not done properly. You don't need much of it at this age. You are young. However, if you want to experiment, I think it would be safe to apply 2 mg topically on a fat-less area with a strong estrogen inhibitor like thyroid, aspirin, progesterone/pregnenolone/andro, or fat-soluble vitamins. There is a study posted before here that the topical route of DHEA is safer than the oral route because the topical mostly converts to DHT while the oral can be converted to estrogen easier. But if you have DHEA powder, maybe you can try the small dose with coconut oil or butter to prevent the liver from converting it to estrogen. Hormones should be approached with more caution is all I am trying to say even the safe types like pregnenolone and progesterone.

If I where to take it I would get the Bulk DHEA powder from Amazon. do u think Taking 5mgs of DHEA powder with 30mgs of Zinc, 1200mgs of Vitamin E & 600mgs of Bayer Aspirin would stop aromatase from happening?

I think it's worth the shot why not? I would experiment until I find the sweet spot where I reap the benefits of DHEA without the bad consequences.

My nipples became sensitive from only 5mg/day.
I wouldn't touch it, if you are young and healthy.
If you do nonetheless. be very cautious.

It should be totally fine, the only thing I would keep a careful eye on are the homosexual tendencies.

It did the opposite for me. It increased my virility, lowered my depravity and increased my desire to plant my seed in my wife. I'm in my 20s. Sorry for the description.

Please share with us how you came to feel you are low on DHT.[/QUOTE/]

since I was 22 I had a varicocele. I used to have severe brain fog could do my jobright, no motivation to work out or talk to girls, low libido, beard thinning. my symptoms have gotten much better since then, but I still have a slight problem with getting a 100% erection. maybe scar tissue? but doctors don't believe me or help me when I tell them because they say its all mental because I'm only 25 :/

Do you use cronometer?
Could you post a screen shot please?
Have you taken or are you on any meds/supps?
Do you drink alcohol?
How is your vitamin D status?
Unlike our doctors, we are here to solve our health problems from the root of stress.
We cannot just throw anything at a burning bonfire.
What good are exogenous hormones if our lifestyle is the cause of our metabolic stress?

I cant post a screen shot right now unfortunately :/...No I dont use a cronometer...I have never and will probably not ever take meds. I believe they don't do anything good...as supplements I take a multivitamin, Zinc, Vit E (di-alpha tocophoryl acetate), Tyrosine, Arginine, whey protein....I drink alcohol moderately (never any Beer) like once every month or 2 when I go out socially with my buddies...I work in Construction & Lanscaping 10 hours per day 5 days per week, so I'm always outside in the spring summer & fallgetting vit D. Winter I get my Vit D from Multivitamin, Milk ect....ever since I got that dam varicocele Ive almost been fanatic about my health & tried to cut out all estrogenic food and exposure from my life. even though I feel a little better, its still a far cry from how virile I felt from the age of 17 through 22. I basically feel like I'm chasing my youth that I feel left me too early haha :/

I appreciate your guys help btw, your more helpful & Caring than any doctors have ever been to be honest

I can relate this to my life since I lost my vibrant health at age 20. :(
I wish I had found Ray Peat then. RP is hard to understand but he's a beacon of hope for me.
You are in the right place, my friend. The ride will be bumpy but we'll get there with some patience.
I am sorry to bother you with the cronometer. Just trying to play detective and find the stressor and deficiencies.
If you feel your DHT is low then we should find the answer to "Why is my DHT low?" instead of supplementing from outside.

I don't support multivitamins. They usually contain iron and other unwanted stuff.
Arginine increases nitric oxide. You can read more here.
I think I said this before but whey protein supplement has soy lecitihin (PUFA).

I have never and will probably not ever take meds.

There are many good people on this forum that have helped me and will also help you. Good luck.

Thank you for the support sele :)...I take Garden of life whole food multi Vitamin with no Iron in it...I take Arginine to help with my erections and varicocele (testicle blood flow)....I also take organic Whey with no soy lecithin rather Sunflower lecithin. Idk if Sunflower lecithin is better tho, but I stay away from soy like the plague.....I think my dht is low because my free testosterone is low and shbg is high all stemming, from low testicle activity. I got my testosterone tested a few months ago and it was 515 total which is pathetic for a man my age. I'm doing all I can I feel with limited money & no insurance to get a operation, so I kinda feel hopeless.

Varicolcele (like varicose veins) is caused by estrogen. Many have reported it coming back after surgery.
Aromatase causes high estrogen. DHEA is not safe for you.
DHEA->Testosterone->Estrogen.
Aromatase is high because of PUFA and inflammation. If you cannot lower it your test will always be low because it will convert to estrogen.
Progesterone is a powerful aromatase inhibitor and helped many with varicose veins. Increase your calcium if you plan on using it.

This is going to sound weird.
A forum member got great results using vit E as a rectal suppository. 800 IU 2x a day. He used this one.

sele, I take Zinc, Vit E and work outside so I get a lot of Vitamin D, I eat plenty of raw organic eggs and eat almost every food that blocks aromatase (broccoli mushrooms parsley chamomile tea antioxidant fruits ect.), I try and stay away from plastic also. I don't see how I can possibly have even moderate amounts of estrogen. I don't have much chest torso or beard hair and no back hair which is all feuled by estrogen. my hair has slightly thinned at the temples but I still basically have a full thick head of hair as of now. the only sign of estrogen I get at this point is my balls sometimes shrivel up for the whole day and I feel tired and no libido....I feel like I got the varicocele from excessive masturbation and porn. I stopped ejaculating excessively and I feel somewhat better than I did.

I would consider diet and other lifestyle factors before considering supplements.
Even if you don't want to do the cronometer thing, do you want to give an idea of what and how much you are typically/averagely eating (incl approx calories)?

You can get some info for self-assessment of base metabolism by measuring body temps and resting heart rate.

hey Tara :) thanks for the info!..I wouldn't be opposed to using a chronometer, but Ive never heard of it before haha so Il look into buying one...my temperature stays between 98.4 & 97.6 whenever I have checked it..my resting heart rate per minute was 63 beats per minute today. I looked it up and it said it was a healthy resting rate idk for sure tho..my hands have been cold lately constantly and its bothering me. so maybe my thyroid is messed up also.

You don't have to buy anything if you don't want to - you get some feature free:
cronometer.com

Your temps and heart rate look slightly low, and cold hands might indicate slightly low metabolism.
