This is an interesting statement: Study links low DHA levels to suicide risk among U.S. military personnel. Do you know, would lipid peroxidation decrease the level of DHA or other polyunsaturated fats in a cell? It just seems like, measuring a group of people under physical and mental stress, maybe the low levels of DHA are due to the DHA being oxidised. Or maybe that isn't how oxidation works?

following 15 wk of dietary (n-3) PUFA deprivation, DHA loss from rat brain was slowed because of reduced iPLA(2) and COX-1 expression, whereas AA-selective cPLA(2), sPLA(2), and COX-2 were upregulated, as were AA and docosapentaenoic acid concentrations.
