Rather than babbling on as I occasionally do, I'm going to attempt to make a brief(ish) post, with a few interesting links :D

It seems as though other people besides Dr. Peat believe that unsaturated fats, in particular those from fish, lead to accelerated aging and decreased resiliency. This all comes from Michael Rae, whom I believe is part of SENS. He is a CRON advocate and practices it himself, but he comes at it from the angle of reducing tissue unsaturation and thus, improving mitochondrial bioenergetics. He seems well researched and has fortunately brought his hypothesis to many other devout life-extension people, though again, from a pro-CRON perspective.

This is a post where Michael comments and delves pretty deep into a variety of studies, including ones that seem "pro-o3/DHA/EPA". http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/41 ... ntry401207

He briefly debates this hypothesis with Aubrey De Grey, here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic ... X-nd-3YUIU

He discusses his diet, including the merits of decreasing tissue unsaturation, here: http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/51 ... dian-diet/

Brief discussion of his hypothesis, here: http://www.longecity.org/forum/topic/11 ... -position/

Also, I'm not sure how many of the users at this forum saw my posts on the Ray Peat facebook groups, but I have had some lengthy discussions with Dr. Peat on bliss, euphoria, "bio-happiness", etc. and human "essential fatty acid deficiency" (which could play a role in facilitating these "alternative" states of consciousness). His more up-to-date ideas on diet go even further than his old ways, for instance, when he was promoting sardines and the like (for protein and minerals), and are again in line with Michael's ideas above:

"I'm now getting at least half of my calories as sugar, and it would be more if the fruits were available. A few years ago, more than half my calories were from fat--butter, coconut oil, cream, beef and lamb. Because of the ~2% pufa in those fats, I decreased them, in favor of sugars. to deplete myself of the pufa as far as practicable. I considered hydrogenated coconut oil, but haven't found a reliable source without additives. In the US, I haven't found any commercial skimmed-milk cheese that doesn't have serious problems, such as using aspergillus enzymes or other additives that bother me. I'm having liver and shellfish about once a week, much less meat generally. Did you read about William R. Brown's experiences with the fat-free diet?" He went on to answer my next questions/comments with "Yes, 0% pufa is the goal. Bacterial endotoxin is probably fairly harmless when there's no pufa."
