Cystic Fibrosis Thriving At Altitude

Against all odds...

Just an anecdote from a friend but I thought I'd share...

My childhood friend has suffered from cystic fibrosis since she was a baby, one of the few (and rare) truly genetic disorders. She's suffered quite a bit at the hand of this disease.

She always had a calling to Colorado and the rockies but was advised against it because of the low atmospheric oxygen and the fact that she essentially has the respiratory capacity of half a lung.

She's been at art school in Denver for several months now and never been happier. She's radiant. Glowing. Hasn't been this happy since she was a child. Her creativity and artistic output are at a level she's never experienced before.

SO... maybe the effects of elevation and CO2 retention are even greater with those with less lung capacity

:)

Just stumbled across this randomly. My sister in law who had cystic fibrosis had exactly the same experience when visiting the Swiss Alps. She was like a new woman.
