Cynomel during pregnancy?

Hi All,

My wife's pregnant.
We're still a little guarded as we've had a few failed pregnancies in the past.
She's been on Mexican Cynomel (+ a Ray Peat diet) for the last one year.
Our question:

Is it safe to continue with the Cynomel during the pregnancy?
Or should she shift back to the T4 meds that she was using prior to the Ray Peat lifestyle?

Our gynec does not know about the Cynomel and would probably throw a fit if she came to know!

Any thoughts, links, ideas or feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Leo

I was reading Broda Barnes' hypothyroidism book yesterday, and he mentioned (I think approvingly) a pregnant woman who took thyroid.

Is she doing well on the cynomel now? If so, I don't see a reason to change.

She needs to pay attention to her progesterone levels and her liver. Keep the liver happy to avoid morning sickness. ;)

Congratulations, BTW

thanks J ... was he referring to T3?

I think he used thyroid from pigs, which is a combination of T3 and T4. However, in that specific example, he didn't specify what the woman was using.

Depend how hypo she is she might need some t4. My advice, by some progest-e ray peat has made comments that babies that were born to women who took progest during were very good, women taking it before and through the pregnancy were excellent babies.

Interesting Jag. The gynec has prescribed some progestrone too ... so we'll probably start on that.
