You should have been afraid of the world that was created to subject kids to this sort of torture and propaganda. The adults that did this are true monsters, you can't expect 5-10 year olds to understand complex matters like health fraud (though children can be far smarter than adults give them credit for), or withdraw their consent to be used in this matter when their parents or guardians override them. They are being used.

In fact, it's quite possible that the ones that survive would do more to fight tyranny than others. Being medically experimented on as a child does shape you in a lot of ways, and the silver lining is that it instills in you a great distrust of authority, when you can look back and understand what was done to you (speaking from personal experience).
