There's no question in my mind that, apart from iatrogenic harm (most specifically, mechanical ventilators), nutritional deficiencies, either due to diet or depletion by pharmceutical drugs, are at the heart of this covid illness.

B1 deficiency likely plays a very large role. Diabetes is a huge risk factor for bad outcomes, and the drug many/most diabetics take, metaformin, depletes vitamin B1. Many symptoms of B1 deficiency also appear in covid (e.g., breathlessness).

Hypertension is another huge risk factor for bad outcomes and the main drugs used in the US and other western countries to treat it (ACE inhibitors) deplete zinc. Zinc is essential for many system processes. The symptoms of zinc deficiency are almost identical to covid symptoms.

Interesting video in which a medical biochemist explains how medical treatments for covid likely damage metabolic energy production leading to cell death, multiple organ failure and patient death. The juicy part starts @ 9:10

Key points:

1) Mechanical ventilation causes lung barotrauma that impairs oxygen gas exchange in many covid patients (i.e., reduced blood oxygen saturation (hemoglobin).

2) Total Parenteral Nutrition (TNP) given via IV to intubated covid patients is high carb/low fat. Carbs are higher in deuterium than fatty acids; deuterium wrecks mitochondria nanomotors that produce cellular energy. Coupled with reduced blood oxygen bound to hemoglobin, mitochondria can't produce energy and cells die.

3) Because TPN bypasses the digestive system the gut is unable to eliminate deuterium.

This guy suggests keeping patients on non-invasive oxygen treatments that don't cause lung barotrauma, and feeding them high fat/low carb ketogenic diets. Fatty acids have less deuterium. Peroxizomes can metabolize fatty acids using just dissolved blood oxygen (independent of hemoglobin-bound oxygen), producing cellular energy and metabolic water (mitochondria cannot do this).
