What's sad is some people are socially defeated by a corrupt system, financially beat down, they tend to look for an excuse to opt out, a sickness or diagnosis is one way of doing this, some folks look for a diagnosis.
It reminds of the cancer survivor hero narrative, they can poison you with chemo and it's celebrated, seeing people with one of those daily pill boxes is so sad to witness, the majority of pills are poison, poly-pharmacy is completely ignored now.
