Mainly I drink my coffee with food. Or if I have no food, I take coffee latte with some sugar.

I drink my coffee with two tablespoons of gelatin, a teaspoon of coconut oil, a small slab of organic grass-fed butter, and a sweetener of choice, usually luo han, stevia, xylitol, or raw honey. I think some people call this bullet proof coffee, but I was doing it long before they came up with that name. Of course, I love coffee, I used to be a semi-pro coffee roaster, so I love coffee all different ways, black, espresso, etc.

I just tried adding a teaspoon of sugar to my morning's normally black coffee. Boy was that gross. I'm hoping that my gluten free toast and preserves gives enough sugar to avoid an adrenal response.

I usually eat with it, and have 20g milk powder + 10g sucrose mixed in with a small amount of milk. The only time I don't take it with food is when I exercise, but I've eaten 45 minutes beforehand and eat about 45 minutes later.

Do you mean you have a cup of milk with some coffee in it, or a cup of coffee with a little milk in it?

It's a matter of making sure you have enough fuel on board to sustain your energy demands. For most of us, when we wake up in the morning, our glycogen stores are somewhat depleted. Coffee tends to increase the rate at which we turn fuel into usable energy - so we burn through the fuel faster, and need more of it. If what we've eaten and have stored as glycogen run low, the stress hormones kick in maintain blood sugar. Cortisol turns our body proteins to glucose. It's having chronically or severely elevated stress hormones that many of us are trying to avoid.

Shaky for me is a sign that I am overdue for food - that I ignored or was unable to meet my needs half an hour or more ago.

Have done it many times for work, going in when it was too early to digest food. By 11 30 or so the hunger starts.

There shouldn't be a problem with coffee on its own, with a little sugar. No meal needed. Many women on Peat find it helpful to eat every few hours anyway, so it's not like you'll starve.

I'm sorry.. did the OP say that only RP approved coffee drinks were acceptable answers? Or could you be confusing this forum with the one for Scientologists. I know that they get very annoyed if you are not fully in line with LRH.

    No, my mistake.

I read, "my gluten free toast and preserves gives enough sugar" as "my gluten free roast preserved gives enough sugar," implying that coffee roast gives enough sugar.
