"Although I don’t recommend “palm oil” as a food, because I think it is less stable than coconut oil, some studies show that it contains valuable nutrients. For example, it contains antioxidants similar to vitamin E, which lowers both LDL cholesterol and a platelet clotting factor." -Ray Peat
Thanks! I figure it's definitely way better than soybean or canola oil! I hardly eat them myself.

I just noticed my Bob's is organic:
Is it non-GMO
I just noticed my Bob's is organic:
Is it non-GMO?

"The USDA Organic label certifies that 95%-100% of the ingredients are organic, so there is a slight chance that (up to 5%) of non-organic ingredients are in the product – however they are not supposed to be GMO. There are still some tricky loopholes, so that’s why you need to look for “100% certified organic” or a “Non-GMO Project” verified label to ensure it’s GMO-free."

Yay I don't have to feel bad using up my 3 bags of it. Now I just wonder if there will be a taste difference between the two products. Thanks for that info!

Palm Oil is the single most horrendously cultivated product in the world today. Yes, it might sound cliche-ish but whole rainforests are being burned in Indonesia and other tropical countries in order to grow palms for palm oil and.... it is in everything!!!

Here is just one article on the peat forests being drained in Borneo to cultivate palms for palm oil and the ones paying the price are the orangutangs. You will find many other articles if you scroll down and maybe see the scope of the problem with palm oil.

Here is another showing the history of the primal growth forest land of the island of IMbak as it is turned into oil palm plantations and the island into a desert island.

By their own admission Bob's Red Mill products are indeed non GMO but not all are organic.

I’m 99% sure if Ray Peat never mentioned masa, these chips wouldn’t exist. But the founder (entrepreneur ;)) will never mention his name.
