Thank you.
My worst liver back up issues are when I have candida flare ups.

Oregano oil treats the candida almost instantly and my liver then starts working again.

Would this encompass Jarrow’s Limonene product?

Possibly, d-limonene is the major component of the essential oil in oranges. But you'd miss out on the other good stuff in the peel that have lots of benefits. I've been adding organic orange and lemon peel into my diet. I'm not a fan of marmalade so just been chucking some orange peel in when cooking things like rice and porridge and lemon with nettle tea. I see them as a really useful supplement.

It's funny, one of my first posts in this forum was asking for clarification about a particular user claiming that orange peels were extremely toxic and should never be consumed under any circumstances. I wondered about it since Ray Peat has mentioned marmalade being beneficial in the past, but never got any answers. I hadn't thought about it again until seeing this, thank you.

I might ask again in this thread, since it seems appropriate: would there be any issues or precautions to take when creating one's own orange peel flour? I often press my own orange juice and always feel like discarding the peels is a waste when I do.

I think the main concern would simply be to make sure you are using organic oranges. Standard ones are heavily sprayed with pesticides and even dyes so you wouldn't want to be consuming the peels of those I suppose, even when washed etc.

Yes, and I would think un-waxed and organic would be even better. I was planning to soak them in a solution of sodium bicarbonate beforehand, I remember reading a number of studies about how this helped divest produce of (some) pesticides. I might even try leaving them overnight, then washing them thoroughly again the next day, as if it was brown rice or something like that.

Sounds good. I suppose you'd have to dry/dehydrate them to get a powder that lasts a while too. You could just freeze them and use as needed if making the flour is too much hassle. I've just been cutting them into thin strips and freezing then I chuck them into stuff before cooking.

Ideally I'd dry them out in the sun, but I don't think there is ample sunlight in the UK to even try - I'll give it a go in the oven at first and see how I get on.

A lot of articles seem to suggest removing as much of the pith as possible - I notice there is no mention of it in these studies. This one which you posted differentiates between 'flesh' and 'peel' for example, but they don't specify where they make the distinction. Perhaps they take it as read that the pith is separate.

This one, which may be of considerable interest to anyone else wishing to try this, distinguishes the pith from the rest of the peel and classifies it as "rag/pulp", and suggests a method for extracting some of the more interesting compounds using a microwave. In fact, looking at this study it might be interesting to try both air-dried and heated.

It also has a cute drawing.

Orange peels are extremely toxic to dogs. I have been eating lots of orange peel and marmalade lately, since hearing Ray Peat say they are a "super drug". The easiest way to get some in daily is to sweeten gelatin with marmalade, but here are a few pics of other ways I have been eating them. Last year, before knowing they were health I baked a birthday cake with a whole orange, pureed with peel and all. It was amazing!
