It has been established before that cistanche helps with Parkinson's and has a pro-dopamine effect.
This study looked a bit deeper into the mechanism of it.
In my opinion most noteworthy is the almost complete recovery of Tyrosine hydroxilase in tje sibstabtia nigra of Parkinson's mice.
They show that Echinachoside, the main glycoside of cistanche, has anti-inflammatory actions and i suspect that is the way it rescues the dopaminergic neurons and TH expression.
