1 oz. unsweetened chocolate
2/3 c. sweetened condensed milk
2/3 c. water
1 t. vanilla
2/3 c. whipping cream

Melt chocolate in top of double boiler. Add condensed milk and stir until mixture thickens. Add water slowly and mix well. Chill thoroughly.

Add vanilla. Whip cream lightly and fold into chilled chocolate mixture. Pour into freezing tray and freeze.

After the mixture is half frozen, beat until smooth. Put back in freezer until frozen.

Serves 6

I was just looking at these recipes last week :).

Sweetened Condensed Milk is a secret treasure, isn't it?

Yes, it's good stuff.

I haven't tried this recipe, but wanted to get it down in case someone wanted to use it. They could offer their opinion. I'll probably make it sometime this spring.

The whipping cream is the problem :( There is only one brand of cream I have found in my area without anything nasty like carrageenan in it, and the store that carries it never manages to keep it in stock.

Isn't that "heavy whipping cream" which is just the fattiest stuff you can get from milk before butter? Shouldn't have anything besides milk fat in it. I wonder if half & half would work in this recipe by subtracting the water... Still probably not thick enough.
