This is one of the first case-controlled studies, which is probably the closes we'll ever get to having a placebo-controlled trial with electromagnetic radiation. I don't know if forum readers are aware but the director of the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, which is one of the premier brain tumor research centers of the world, banned all of his employees from using cellphones without a wired earpiece. So much for the US public not believing in the connection between EMR and cancer.

"...The head of a cancer research center in Pittsburgh is urging his faculty and staff to limit their use of cell phones. Another scientist, Daniel Wartenberg, a professor at the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, says it may be better to be safe than sorry."

Mayoral hopefuls vow to lift cell phone bans in schools (they vow to overturn Bloomberg's controversial cell phone ban
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/may ... -1.1328874

“You don’t want [phones] on in the classroom and distracting from education and what’s going on there,” said former city Controller Bill Thompson, who said lifting the ban would be one of his first acts as mayor. “[But] you want to make sure your children are safe, and the best way is through cell phones.”

The above argument to eradicate the cell phone ban is missing the point, which is that cell phones along with the whole bunch of other wireless technologies have been thrust on the consuming public much too fast and with too little public awareness of independent scientific studies which prove harm. Studies churned out by the wireless industry itself claim no proof of harm.

FCC regulations allow construction and maintenance of cell towers absolutely, and no person or corporation can successfully challenge this industry in a court of law because of protectionary statutes.

The cell phone lobbyists must be working overtime to convince potential politicians in waiting along with the general public that banning the use of cell phones is a "freedom" hot button issue only. I doubt that Bloomberg's sole motive was to just stop the disruptive nature of the cell phones in the classroom.

Today no smoker has the right to inflict their toxins on another member of the community in a public place. The public must discern what is in their own best interests...
