But what about the effect of high fructose intake on the liver, I keep reading it increases liver lipogenesis and triglyceride synthesis quickly in both humans and rats.

Assuming a good metabolism is intact, it becomes a non-issue since carb's should sustain a self-oxidizing cycle. It would take care of itself. Good metabolism = carbs = good metabolism
