Can infections cause symptoms in a state of high metabolism?

For example, chronic infections like lyme, or parasitic infections. The goal isn’t so much to fully get rid of them, but to enable the body to keep them under check and remain assymptomatic.

So I wonder if anyone got in remission from these or other issues, just by raising his metabolism

Repressing or containing infections is what a compromised metabolism relies on. It's a stalemate: neither the infection nor the body is gaining ground. As metabolism perks up and mitochondrial health improves, the body will let dormant infections become acute again and deal with them for good.

So, if you raise metabolism, your symptoms actually get worse before getting better?

If that’s the case, could it be the reason why people on high doses of iodine get worse for a while? The general belief is that it’s the halides getting displaced

Yeah. Heavy metal, toxin and infection removal are things that begin to happen when health improves on a fundamental level or when deficiencies are corrected. It can get uncomfortable for a while.
