I had the most amazing sleep last night and feel great today. Much higher quality sleep than normal. Had good dreams and woke feeling amazing.

Instead of one mild cheat meal per week I had an absolute binge day like I haven't done since finding RP.

All day Mexican restaurants corn beans etc, then my final meal before bed was the worst. Massive amount order of diner fries and cheeseburger with the bun and all.

I'm not anti peat I'm right back onto RP style eating today.

But why did that pufa gluten binge make me feel so good? Why did it cause such great sleep?

Processed food increases dopamine short term just like any vice porn, social media, drugs like cocaine/opioids but, long-term it will damage you and you will eventually feel the negative affects.

Because you probably experienced :
- A lot of fun because of going to different places, restaurants, seeing people, etc...
- A lot of pleasure because you liked the food a lot and you enjoyed it

Plus probably the high of doing something "forbidden"/escaping from a jail.

Don't look further.

I see... My dopamine boost was amazing. Much higher than following the healthy dopamine boosting advice I've found here.
But yes I would never stick to that it was an insane amount of pufa and gluten back to strict eating today.

French fries, burgers etc. are delicious and very enjoyable. Sounds like you had a great time, that's enough to feel great, sleep like a baby and have good dreams.

Learn to make those foods with saturated fat and you'll be able to binge with much less worry and all of the same fun.

Any significant and enjoyable experience will typically lead to reduced stress and better sleep.

+1 and also the factor of going out, meeting people, seeing new places, scape from the self imposed strictness, etc. played a huge role.

For instance, and I have experienced this very clearly during this pandemic :
- When I am isolated/ish for some time plandemic style and I drink ONE SINGLE BEER at home, alone, I get a very unsatisfying drunk feeling. Only the negatives. Plus a hangover that lasts the whole next day. Crazy. I never had this before.

- When I am with friends and drink, I can drink many beers, spirits, etc... the feeling is totally different. Starting from the first beer, I feel elation. The hangover is very diminished and feels very different.

What has changed? Not the substance but rather the environment.

Beautiful comment.

I've experienced the very same things. About 2-3 years ago, even though I was quite ill generally, on one vacation night when I was having fun with lots of people, I drank countless cocktails (a lot!) and woke up feeling perfectly fine, and even euphoric. No hangover whatsoever.

The environment and our perception of the situation (e.g. enjoyment) completely changes our responses to a variety of stressors. Company, meaning, human interaction, laughter all these things are profoundly more therapeutic and prometabolic than any food one can eat.

My guess would be calorie dense, easy to digest food that combines very high fat and carb, thereby sustaining blood sugar for an extended period per the Randle Cycle.

and I would add... or any supplement/hormone one can take.

I concur! Although progesterone, vitamin D, aspirin, cyproheptadine have had some pretty powerful effects when I needed them.

Very interesting comment. I once read something Ray wrote similar to this. He suggested to keep snacks by the bed if you wake too early.

it's also the stress relief from not having to cook, or shop for food, or plan for yourself. sometimes humans need to sit back and be spoiled a bit. it's quite nourishing

There's a lot of pseudo-recipes for restaurant food on the net if you look around, a lot of it just involves simmering food at low temperatures while tossing in some spices, mixing some ingredients together, a jug of oil and a pot, nothing big.
