Yeah I tried reducing the glycine dose and it worked much better now. If I take it away from heavy meals, I make sure the glycine dose is no more than 1g with a cup of coke or warm milk.
I don't know if this is true or not, but I also read that when taking free or isolated amino acids, it's best to take it separate from meals, so that it doesn't get mixed in with the other amino acids from food. But I wonder if that's a good idea. It would be interesting to hear what others here feel about it.

Yeah I would like to hear what others think about this too. The reason I take it with meals is that I want it to get mixed with other inflammatory amino acids like tryptophan to make them less harmful to my body.

Having just read this

3. Gelatin: Reduced animal parts you would never eat, if you only knew

Did you know that Starburst candy in America contains gelatin, but not the ones sold in other countries? That’s because gelatin is banned nearly everywhere else in the world. Why? Gelatin is made from the body parts of infected and drugged animals that aren’t used for fast food, like muscles, hooves, feet, hides and connective tissues. It’s all boiled down (reduced), loaded with sugar and food coloring, and sold to our children as candy. Other countries ban gelatin, knowing how toxic it can be for humans to consume, but not America! You would not believe how many foods and candies contain gelatin. Avoid marshmallows, gel capsule vitamins, fruit snacks, Jello, gummy worms, gummy bears, gummy “cola” candy, and often sour cream and cake frosting.

I will be more likely to pay a little more to get Great Lakes gelatin on the chance that it will be more likely to be wholesome.
Site looks like sensationalist fear-porn crap

Stephanie Seneff, prominent glyphosate researcher says that glyphosate can replace glycine in proteins and often ends up in the collagen. Also I have been reading about high chromium content as well from leather tanning waste. I would love to see some lab reports on this stuff

Bump this could change everything about gelatin consumption

Thanks for the link, that's comforting. I wasn't aware of that page. Now it makes more sense considering that it's made from leather: I never understood the high values.

But the reasoning was as follows: they has a 2017 specification with a maximum of 1.5 ppm for lead. Given that this is not a techmology limitation since it's possible to detect lower amounts than that in labs, it suggested that they can't guarantee such low content. Contamination of supplements tend to increase as these limits loosen.

@ecstatichamster - The link that you posted was quite helpful. Thank you again.

Do you have any information on the fluoride content of their hydrolyzed collagen? Because otherwise we're left with the same problem as before: having only the specification to rely upon.

Their gelatin product has a safe range: 17-45 mcg per serving.
But their hydrolyzed collagen is up to 600 mcg per serving.

@ecstatichamster - I've been trying to contact Great Lakes Gelatin for some time now without sucess. I was asking if they have more precise numbers for fluoride in their hydrolyzed collagen (just like they do for their gelatin) because the current guaranteed limit doesn't have much practical value. Have you or anyone else tried to inquiry them as vvc11?

I have not. But I could call them.

I am so jealous of people who can tolerate gelatin and glycine :(

Different brands of gelatin and different brands of pure glycine all give me symptoms. What gives? Maybe my body doesn't need glycine...
Your brand could be poisoned with glyphosate?
