Do I have too much iron? Is my blood to thick? Is my low MCHC tied to anemia or something else?

I think blood thickness related to hemoglobin usually involves values over 180 g/L. I know there are some people who need to donate blood every month or so because their blood gets too thick, but I would think you or your doctor would know if you had that.

Have you searched the forum in regards to the benefits of lower iron? There are several studies suggesting that keeping ferritin under 100 has long term benefits, like a reduced risk of heart disease and cancer, and some (including myself) have seen benefits, like improved energy, from getting ferritin into the "near deficiency" range, which is about 30-50.

In my experience, blood donation centers only check hemoglobin, and will take you if it's over 130 and you meet their other criteria. It's the most reliable way to lower iron, E. D. Weinberg suggested using the estimate of taking 30 points off ferritin for every time you donate.
