A lot research on PUFA is coming from the book" Human Longevity",by Raymond C Valentine.
The bones of this book is research from the Global Burden of Disease Study,-Valentine says " it stands out as being the most detailed analysis of health of world populations ever attempted. Causes of death were charted for 235 diseases or conditions."

This book was released in 2015 I think, Bill Gates is one of a few who invested heavily into the company "sapphire fuel",they are making "biofuel" from algae oil.

Obviously this shouldn't be cause to discredit the research in the book but it's interesting to watch if an omega 3 supplement comes out from this source from left over oil,the human longevity book recommends fish oil supplementation-
"However, the simple addition of fish oil in the diet might ensure that cardiolipin maintains its potency as a natural oxidative killer of senescing colon cells."

Raymond C Valentine was involved with Monsanto for a period I believe.

The vast majority of human fish oil trials for both treatment and prevention failed. In a few cases, they were terminated early due to serious increase in adverse events or even death (usually from CVD) in the active group compared to control.
More Evidence That Omega-3 Supplements Don't Work

I am not discounting any evidence but Big Pharma seems to have given up on fish oil, with the only approved drug on the market right now being Lovaza.
Are there any serious side effects with Lovaza or Epanova (prescription fish oil)? If so, would these also apply to generic versions of these drugs and to fish oil supplements? Answered by ConsumerLab.com
"...As discussed more detail in the "Concerns and Cautions" section of the Fish Oil Supplements Review, Lovaza and Epanova may cause increases in liver enzymes and "bad" cholesterol. Lovaza may also increase the frequency of heart rhythm problems. The same side effects would be expected with generic versions of these drugs but not necessarily with fish oil supplements which provide lower doses of EPA and DHA. Interestingly, these particular side effects have not been reported with a prescription fish oil which does not contain DHA, but can cause joint pain."

These are the studies you get access to,crazy to think what we could find if we had access to all their databases.

There is probably a massive flop coming for fish oil sales so algae oil with the marketing spin of being more pure because of photosynthesis etc will take off, hipsters are already on the algae oil.

Yeah, and another case of (lethal) irony. Lovaza was designed and approved specifically for prevention of CVD. And what does it do instead - causes a potentially lethal heart rhythm disorder.

Incredible.
The elephant in the room from the books research is the lack of cures, they start talking about designer drugs.
