It was in the comments section of the TMZ article in the OP. A guy named his expiremental rats Ben Franklin and Napolean. Ben Franklin loved to exercise everyday and Napolean never exercised. Ben Franklin died suddenly.

Very interesting??? - What mechanism do you think was at play??? Do magic mushrooms over- use the sympathetic nervous system? What other stresses were you dealing with? Were you using the mushroom to relieve other stresses in your life? Bad diet - nutrient deficiencies are a big stress on the system.
I thought that shrooms couldn't do much physical damage but i definitely felt like my nervous system was a complete wreck after it. I did them about five times over the course of few weeks. I felt quite fine until aftet my last trip. I had pain in my internal organs and just felt like my body was failing. I had done intermittent fasting before and the stress hormones from that felt like nothing compared to this. I felt like the core of my being had been hit with a sword. No safety left. It was quite hellish.

I guess i wanted to evolve spiritually or some crap like that. I didn't really have any major stresses at the time. And after the shrooms any normal life stresses that are caused by something felt like a really distant idea. I was just hanging on to life. I couln't really rationalize anything.

My diet wasn't horrible at the time but it could have been better. Discovering Peat and eating more protein, good carbs, sat fat, salt, avoiding pufa etc. has been a life saver i think. I cannot believe how normal and safe i feel nowadays. I'm really grateful. :)

Yes we all live and learn, pity though that many don't learn. Tripping on mushrooms speed ups your thinking processes. It's all happening in the mind and just like excessive worries deplete us of energy and make us sick. The same would be true of mind altering substances. If we are already in a sympathetic dominant state, it does not take much to push us over the edge. A lot of thought has gone into the foods that Peat advocates but people get hung up on sugar, fructose, dairy etc., etc.

The path to higher spirituality is through a nourished body and mind. There is no greater buzz than energy on tap that is not driven by adrenaline and cortisol. The mind is stilled and able to think clearly; solutions to problems seem to fall from the ether. It feels to me, that a pathway to god (for want of a better word) opens up. There is a closer connection to your inner self that is all wise, knowing and sacred.

I have witnessed many people on mind altering substances, the illicit and the legal and feel that the part that makes us human; that sacred part of ourselves is either completely lost or destroyed. We have some extremely derelict individuals that can no longer be considered to be human - a huge burden to society. Many are not able to be rehabilitated and everyone is at a loss what to do with them. In a less humane society, these individuals would be culled from the population. There was a time I naively believed rehabilitation was possible; now I believe culling is the only rational option. I know this will sound harsh to many but as I said earlier, we live and learn the hard way.

I am very ambivalent about the whole legalisation of marijuana. There is a side to MJ that is not being spoken about and I think it has much to do with its estrogenic mechanism. Remember, an estrogen is an estrogen is an estrogen. It is truly a gorgeous plant and it has interesting compounds, it is my dear hope that its legalisation will not encourage people (especially young ones) to think it is a benign substance.

I am happy to hear that you are feeling stable and safe through the eating real food. Food is powerful, many do not appreciate how truly powerful, though. Remember, the feeling of not being safe triggers the fight-flight response.

Stay safe.

Hey Lisa,

Thanks, so glad it resonated with you. I almost deleted due to being conditioned to repress the spiritual all my life. As a tiny child, it seemed that this spiritual connection was very much the essence of who I am. In the scientific community, it is very much a taboo subject and so people are very shocked to hear me say such things and yet when it comes to healing it is precisely the spiritual realm to which we turn to for guidance and strength. I hesitate to say god because I have never been a religious person, in fact very scathing of the religion I was born into. I think people who have experienced great trauma can relate. When you can't turn to doctors, specialist, parents, mentors etc., you have no choice but to look inside. No-one can know you better than you know yourself. Not even my husband, parent or children, yet I know them better than they know themselves - strange. I consider it more like an internal GPS. It has never let me down. When we become devitalised, we are easily thrown off course, yet listening to a beautiful piece of music or looking at beautiful artwork or the birth of a brand new life can bring us back in touch with the very essence of who we are. It is what makes us human - how sad to grow up denying this side of ourselves.

Actually, he claimed to be Vegan for a little over a year, based on the release date of these news stories-

Bob Harper Goes Vegan dated 6/10/2010

http://vegetarianstar.com/2011/09/16/bob-harper-explains-why-he-quit-veganism/dated 9/16/2011

7 years ago and for one year. He wasn't 100% vegan as he loves cheese. He was vegetarian not vegan.

"Star: Do you miss meat?

Bob: “Yeah definitely. Rachel Ray recently asked me if I ever slip up and to be honest yeah I do. Look, nobody is perfect and I definitely have cheated but I don’t beat myself up for it. I don’t want life to be so regimented. If I want some cheese or something I definitely let myself.”

Star: Do you have a cheat day?

Bob: “I don’t necessarily have a cheat day, but I do allow myself to indulge once in a while without beating myself up. The other day I broke down and had some pizza-and it was so good!”

“My diet is so clean, eating only organic foods, that are primarily plant based-if I want to have a treat I let myself have it. I have dark chocolate almost every day! My dessert at night is a whole bunch of blueberries, raspberries, and strawberries with some dark chocolate chips on top. I love it and I never get tired of it.”

“I woke up craving egg whites today so decided to have them….so crazy!! It’s been so long. Also had strawberries & oatmeal.”

He ate chocolate fat almost every day.

You are so funny Such, lol. The kids and I have so much fun with hubby. I often joked that he should set himself up as a fitness consultant. "You too can eat all this food and have a body like mine" and "Pull my hair, it's real". "Eat sugar and get rid of belly fat" "Wouldn't you love biceps like these to attract the young ladies" "Be sure to drink sugar and full cream milk at least 3 times a day and see the pounds melt off your torso before your very eyes" So much fun. Everyone gives me the credit because he is in such good shape but I think it's genetics or epigenetics that he has never dieted in all his life. As of interest, he has been the fatty acid guru in the food industry in the Oceania region. So Pufas have been blacklisted before we even had the kids. He is as laid-back as they come and I am sure this attitude protects him from putting on weight. I do the stressing for both of us.

Spirituality based on a well nourished body and mind sounds good, but "connection to an inner self that is all-wise, (all-)knowing . . . " is BS. Thinking that you do or can know everything is insane.

I believe this is the first time I ask this, but could you expand on that?

I find this a rather engaging forum. Some posts provide amazing reflection and stimulation o(^_-)O

Yes, plenty of food for thought and comic relief. I don't know where else I can engage in my favourite topic. My husband is the only one that understands this subject area and my children worry how on earth they will explain their parents to their future partners. Worries me too about the dinner conversations with in-laws.

I am just letting my hair down as they say after years of being repressed and trying to fit in. I decided to spend 2017 laughing more and having a good time. So for 2017, I will be burning more fat calories by laughing more and not jumping on that treadmill. How can the body think it is being chased by a tiger if I am having a such a good time?

Right. I was just pointing out that he did indeed claim to be vegan for about a year. I think the fact that I included the dates indicated that it was about 6-7 years ago. That is a more detailed and truthful answer than "Nope."

Truthfully, I don't know if there has ever been a "100% vegan" human being, as that would require being nursed on soy formula or whatever from birth onward, and choosing to never eat any animal product whatsoever. Hence, why people claim to "go vegan" or "go vegetarian."

"connection to an inner self that is all-wise, (all-)knowing . . . " is BS

As I explained this would be very hard for many people to understand and it is perhaps only when you have known great tragedy or trauma that you are able to access this inner; perhaps it is not even an inner voice perhaps it is the ability to tap into the universal consciousness. All I know that there are people who understand this and there are those that have no inkling that it exists.

I thought everyone one experiences this reality but I learnt this is not the case for all. All I know is that, psychopaths and sociopaths do not experience the same. I think this is not correct. I think they do operate at the same level but perhaps are tuned into a very different frequency than the one I am dialled into. It must have to do with heightened senses that have been overdeveloped in certain regions of the brain. Why are Asperger's able to pick up a musical instrument that they have never played and play a piece of music they have only heard once.

What I do know is when the energy is high in body, then the antennae becomes extremely sensitive and when energy is low then there is only confusion and noise. The GPS does not work anymore. It is interesting to me that when diet is optimal then this GPS antennae is sharp. I think many have experienced what a foggy brain feel like? Perhaps this is version of a foggy brain.

I know it makes no sense and I think it best to consider it BS and focus on how to work out if I am having too much fruit/sugar or carbs while reducing my fat intake. At the moment, I am listening to too many gurus and too much conflicting research instead of my inner GPS. Too much noise.

Which part Such, the blacklisting of pufas or the guru bit?

He can tell you precisely the fatty acid makeup and composition of each food out there. That the way we test in our country is incorrect and even though he has tried to explain this no-one seems understands so they continue to record fatty acids incorrectly. Perhaps they just don't want to change the method and cause complications. In the US, they are doing it correctly. He has worked on very interesting tampering and contamination cases based on his knowledge of fatty acids. They are all confidential cases which I should not even know about which involve big industry giants. He has a gag order placed on him which includes me. I never signed on the dotted line but anyway, they have threatened to come after him if anything is leaked to the public. Wish I could elaborate more but we have to wait until all the executives involved have died out and I might feel safe to write a book on it. There is nothing more bull**** than the bull**** that goes on by Big Food.
